Week 1 - 2023 General Session

Passing Legislation on the floor.

After being sworn in, I was the first to present and pass legislation for the 2023 General Session. I passed two pieces of legislation on my first day (HB13 and HB34).

Meeting with Youth Councils

I hosted many students this week at the Capitol. My very first task on my first day back was meeting students from Draper Park Middle School. We discussed the legislative process and what it takes to make a bill a law before they toured the Capitol. I also met with the Youth Councils from both Draper and Bluffdale, along with city leaders, on Local Officials Day.

Midway through the week, I held a Town Hall with Representative Stong, Representative Pierucci, and Senator McCay. We discussed issues important to our area and new bills each representative is running. I am always grateful for the opportunity to hear from you about the issues you care about.

Me and my grandson at the State of State address

To finish the week, Governor Cox asked us to bring a young person with us to listen to his State of the State address. I had my grandson sit with me while we listened to Governor Cox’s vision for the state. Watch the video below for more updates about this week!

I want to hear from you! Please reach out to tell me what issues are important to you.
