Week 4 - 2023 General Session

Meeting with the Fire Department and recognizing the families of fallen officers.

We are officially over halfway through the session!

This week I met with the Draper Fire Department and thanked them for all the work they do to keep Draper safe. The House of Representatives also recognized the families of Utah’s fallen officers, who put their lives at risk to protect our state. Immediately after, the House unanimously passed the Fallen Officer Memorial Scholarship program, which provides funds to the children of public safety officers and firefighters who have died in the line of duty. I cannot express my gratitude enough for the brave Utahns and their families who put their lives on the line to keep us safe.

I accepted the Cultural Advocacy Award for my work supporting the cultural sector in Utah. I got to meet the artist whose artwork was given as the award, and she even signed her piece for me!

Friday was Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Day on the hill. I got to meet with different groups representing the best in outdoor recreation in the state and municipalities that thrive off the tourism the great outdoors brings to the state. I even got to ride an electric bike in the Capitol!

I also recorded an episode for the Utah House of Representatives podcast. We discussed my two recreation bills, HB224 and HB384, and the TOUR Caucus. Listen to the podcast this Thursday and watch my weekly update video below. As always, I would love to hear from you about the issues that are important to you.
